Happy Birthday Gavin!

Wow what a day! We got to the hospital around 7:30 am bags in hand and ready to go. They have a room all ready for us, and let us know the plan.

Around 8:00 they put in an I'VE and started a patocin drip. I was 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I stayed that way for what felt like forever! By 11 am things were a changing. Labor really picked up and started to get really painful we worse through the pain until around 4:00 when I decided I just couldn't do it anymore, and asked for an epidural. To my surprise they said no... WHAT???? Plus I find this out in the midst of dreadfully awful pain. Screaming pain! And for those of you who know me screaming about anything is just not something I do! It turns out that my platelet count was low one time months ago, and they need to check it. So they ordered blood work which took for ever to get anyone to come take the blood, and get the results. Two hours later ( after insuring awful contractions every two minutes, I finally got a platelet count of 102... The cut of was 100. Passed by the skin of my teeth! They finally put in the order and another HOUR later i was finally ok with pain. When they checked me I was 8cm so is still had some time to go. From 8-11ish I rested and got myself prepared for what was to come. I started pushing just before 11. It hurt but was not all that bad. Gavin finally came out at 11:35 weighing 7lbs 12oz and was 21 in long. He was perfect from the start. I helped pull him out and put him on my stomach, and Nate got to cut the coard. I was a completely better experience
Than the scars we had with Grace. After about an hour both sets of Grandpas and Grandmas came to meet baby Gavin!
