What a week!
This has been an interesting week to say the least! A week summed up in work, contractions, hospital visits, medicine birthdays, and visitors.
So it all started last Sunday night, when I was getting stabbing pains in my lower left hand side. They only lasted 5 or 6 seconds at the most, but never the less were getting closer and closer. Once they got to 3 min apart we decided to call the hospital. They didn’t think I was in labor but asked us to come in anyway. When we got there and got all hooked up to the monitors it turns out I was having contractions every 6 minutes. They checked and I was only 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced so they told us we could stay and walk around for a while and see if it progresses, or we could go home and see what happens. The doctor said it would probably be soon. We decided to go home, and see what happens. NOTHING! Nate and I both took off Monday partially because we thought she would come, but also because we were tired. During the day on Monday I was getting contractions almost every 10 minutes, but only for 20-30 seconds…big fat let down… and contractions lasted for the rest of the week about every half an hour to an hour. The Doctor says this will probably keep going for the rest of the pregnancy
So we continued with our regular schedules for the rest of the week… or so we thought. On Tuesday, I started to get really stuffy and felt like I was getting sick. I knew we had our weekly doc appointment on wed so I waited to see what she said. Boy was that a big mistake, by the time I got to the doctor’s office, my head was so plugged and I was in so much pain I really thought I could die. So on top of being 39 ½ weeks pregnant and it being my birthday, I was in miserable pain! She gave me medicine, and told me it would go away in a few days. Nope…it didn’t, I still can’t hear out of that ear, and I often have a stabbing pain, pink discharge and it hurts down my neck. But on to the good part!
At our last appointment we set a date for induction (just in case according to the doctor) If not before, our little Gracie will be induced at 5:30 am on Thursday the 10th of June. It’s so nice to have an ending point! I hope she comes earlier, but if not, I know we will be seeing her shortly after June 10th!
At this appointment I was 2cm and 60% effaced something she said I could be for hours, or weeks. It all depends on how badly this little one wants to stay inside.
How far along: 39 weeks
Total weight gain: 29 lbs since 6 weeks
Stretch marks: Nope
Sleep: Hard! I’m so tired, but it’s hard to move around this extra weight that’s all in front!
Best moments this week: Going to the doctor and hearing that I am 2 cm dilated and 60% effaced! Were so excited! Also putting an ending date on the calendar. She will be induced June 10th at 5:30 am She is also moving a ton, which can be a best and a worst. I love to feel her move around and get the hiccups, but my stomach is so stretched its starting to hurt. We just can’t wait for her to be on the outside instead of the inside!
Food cravings: Nothing, food seems to be the enemy lately. Nate has to continually make me eat something. Everything sounds blah and inevitably we don’t have what I want when I want it then by the time Nate goes to get it I’m over it. I guess fruit, Iced Tea, popsicles,
Labor signs: more contractions and lots of pressure
Belly Button: totally gone, you can't even force it to indent (but not an outie yet)
What I miss the most: Going places, the ease of walking, my shoes, having drinks after work, being able to eat and not get sick...She’s still worth it though!
One thing I would do differently: take time to enjoy what is happening, try to not be due right at the end of the school year, take more pictures.
What I am looking forward to the most: Meeting our little girl, and having a flat stomach again, getting tan and wearing what I want. June 10th, 2010!
Other stuff: Nausea is back and it’s getting harder and harder to ride in the car and walk around.

38-39 weeks
I feel like I haven’t posted in forever! Everything is going really well. We are just ready to meet our little girl!!! And SOON!!! She is getting bigger and bigger, and moving around quite a bit. It’s really hot out right now so my feet and legs are pretty swollen, and it’s starting to get hard with all the walking I do during the school day. Hopefully she will decide to come in the next two weeks; otherwise I will be induced on June 11th...yep, the last day of school. Nathan has been really great at taking care of me! He rubs my back and feet most nights, and even occasionally paints my toe nails so I can wear sandals. He’s also really good at getting me to eat. Hence hitting the 29lbs mark...we shall see if the next appt brings the big 30?
I think we have everything all ready for her arrival. The bags our packed and waiting by the door, we have the car seat in the car, and grandpa and grandma are on standby to come and stay with our little furry one while we are gone. Now we are just waiting...14 days left! We can't go anywhere out of town so were stuck around Madison. We have gone shopping, walked around the capital, gone to the farmers market, gone out to eat, played games...etc. The waiting is the hardest so far! But we will update everyone as things start to happen.
How far along: 38 weeks
Total weight gain: 29 lbs since 6 weeks
Stretch marks: Nope
Sleep: Hard! I’ve been getting up in the middle of the night a lot, and then can't get back to sleep. I just lay there and think about Grace, or all the stuff I need to get done both at home and at work. Or worry about all the things that can go wrong during delivery.
Best moments this week: Going to the doctor and hearing that I am 2 cm dilated and 40% effaced! Were so excited. Also talking to all my co-workers, who are always convinced that today will be the day:)
Food cravings: Nothing, food seems to be the enemy lately. Nate has to continually make me eat something. Everything sounds blah and inevitably we don’t have what I want when I want it then by the time Nate goes to get it I’m over it. I guess spring rolls are the craving now, and salad.

Other stuff: Nausea is back and it’s getting harder and harder to ride in the car and walk around.

No time to rest!
Things have been kind of crazy lately, but we have now entered the time that we can only go 30 miles from Madison safely. I am hoping things might slow down a bit because they have been crazy lately! This week we had our first Childbirth class. It went really well and was surprisingly informative. I hope to fit a few more in before Grace makes an appearance.
I also started once a week doctors appts. All was well; the doctor said she is head down and pretty low. Her heart rate was around 135, and she was measuring right on track. I have been feeling lots of pressure and a few contractions here and there. Nate predicts May 21st and I say June 12. Don’t know why just think she will be late. All we have to do is pack the hospital bag, and attach the changing pad. Otherwise I think we are all ready...or as ready as we can be!
How far along: 36 weeks
Total weight gain: 28 lbs since 6 weeks
Stretch marks: Nope
Sleep: Hard! I’ve been getting up in the middle of the night a lot, and then can't get back to sleep. I just lay there and think about Grace, or all the stuff I need to get done both at home and at work. Or worry about all the things that can go wrong during delivery.
Best moments this week: Going to the doctor and hearing that I am 1 cm dilated and 20% effaced! Were so excited

Everything sounds blah and inevitably we don’t have what i want when i want it then by the time Nate goes to get it I’m over it:) One thing I had to have when i went to the store was salt and vinegar chips.
Labor signs: Some contractions and lots of pressure
Belly Button: Gone:)
What I miss the most: Being able to do things and move as quickly as I could when not pregnant. I often have to walk up and down the hall ways or do things out side at school. Everything just takes a little longer. It seems like the clock is always against me. Also Mojitos and wearing the clothes I want to (especially my jeans)
One thing I would do differently: take time to enjoy what is happening, try to not be due right at the end of the school year, take more pictures.
What I am looking forward to the most: Meeting our little girl!
Other stuff: Nausea is back and its getting harder and harder to ride in the car and walk around. I haven't been swollen at all, but one day this week I woke up and my rings and some shoes don’t fit. Hope she comes soon!

Way over due...
Wow! I’ve been slacking on posting lately. So much has happened in the last feel weeks.
We had our big family shower the last week in April (24th) It was so nice! It meant so much many people pitched in to make sure it was a success. My sisters and sister in law did so much work making sure it was organized, fun and creative! It was also so great and surprising that so many people came from so far away. Both Nathan and I felt truly blessed to have so much support! We got tons and tons of stuff. One of the games was to estimate how many bottles, onsies and bibs we would get so we kept count and i think we had 32 onsies, 17 bibs and 14 bottles among tons of other items that Grace will need. I finally feel like we are all set, and waiting around for her to come!
I saw this on another website to write about showers...
Who threw it: My sister and sister in law, but tons of others helped. My sister, who helped from afar as well as Nate’s Aunt and cousin, our niece Chloe, My mom, Nate’s Mom and countless other aunts and cousins that pitched in on the actual day.
Time and Date: April 24th 2010. 11-2.
Colors: Brown and Pink
What we ate: Breakfast foods. Fruit, bagels, coffee cakes, and lots of other goodies.
What we played: First we did predictions and advice. Everyone wrote when they thought she would come, how big she would be and some advice for us. Some were pretty funny and others were really sweet!
Then we did the candy dirty diaper guess test, and gift predictions. It was a great balance of games.
What we got: I'm convinced that Grace will be the best dressed little girl! She got tons of clothes and shoes!!! but lots of other items that she really needed like bottles, bibs sheets, blankets, towels, washcloths, toys, books, her stroller and car seat, high chair, baby seat...and tons more
After all the festivities it was so nice to go through it all and get organized! Stay tuned for pics. I didn’t have a camera so people are sending them to me.
